How do I download Monaeo onto my device?
After you’ve opted in* and created an account, you can download the app specific for your device. We have apps available for Android, Apple, and Windows phones. For Android, search for “Monaeo” in Google Play. For Apple, search for “Monaeo” in the App Store. For Windows, search for “Monaeo” in the Windows Store. Once the appropriate app is installed on your device, log into the app and you’re done! Simply let it run in the background. * applies only to business travelers within our enterprise clients
How do I know if Monaeo is enabled and automatically collecting my travel data?
As long as you have wireless or cell reception, your data is being aggregated. At the top right hand corner of the app, there should be a location icon that you can click on to show you that “Automatic logging is currently enabled.”
How much battery life does the Monaeo app consume?
On average, Monaeo consumes 1-2% of overall battery life. Battery drain from all apps for an entire phone is usually around 5-8% per hour depending on the phone, OS, OS version, and usage.
How much data does the Monaeo app consume?
Monaeo has been designed to minimize data consumption on your device. On average, the Monaeo app consumes less than 10MB data per month. Assuming a 10GB family shared plan and NO use of Wi-Fi, Monaeo will consume less than 0.1% of your data. When your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and you browse the Monaeo app, Monaeo will not consume any data from your data plan.
What if I get a new phone?
Simply download the app on your new mobile device and log into the same Monaeo account with your existing username and password.
How much space does the app take up on my phone?
The app is only 13.4 MB. A typical phone has 32GB (32,000 MB) in storage space.
Do I need a wifi connection for Monaeo to work?
No. Wifi connection isn’t required as long as you have cell reception.
How do I categorize a day as Personal, Travel or Work?
‘Sign In’ into https://monaeo.com and click on Calendar. You can edit individual days by clicking on a date and then clicking edit. You can also check multiple days and then click on the edit button.
How do I change my password?
You can update your password by going to your Settings. If you forgot your password, you can click on the “Forgot Your Password” link.
Does my phone need to be on for Monaeo to work?
Yes. Your phone needs to be on and have cell or wireless reception in order for the app to automatically aggregate location information.
Can I delete days?
No. You cannot delete days. You can, however, edit the location recorded or categorize the location to be Personal, Work, or Transit. For business travelers only: Categorizing a day as Personal or Transit excludes it from your withholding locations. For residency app users only: Categorizing a day as Transit excludes it from your residency limits and Days Left calculation.

Where can I review and edit my data?
To review and edit your travel data, log into your dashboard at https://monaeo.com.
When I sign in to the app, the pop-up never disappears and says “signing in” with a spinning loop. How can I fix this?
If the pop-up window doesn’t disappear after 60 seconds and continues to show a spinning loop like the image below, restarting your computer should resolve the issue. Signing In Loop  
Can I delete days?
No. You cannot delete days. You can, however, edit the location recorded or categorize the location to be Personal, Work, or Transit. For business travelers only: Categorizing a day as Personal or Transit excludes it from your withholding locations. For residency app users only: Categorizing a day as Transit excludes it from your residency limits and Days Left calculation.
Does the laptop need to be on for Monaeo to work?
Yes. Your laptop needs to be on and requires your Wi-Fi to be turned on to log travel data. Note: You do not need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network for the app to work.
Do I need a wifi connection for Monaeo’s laptop app to work?
In order for Monaeo to automatically aggregate your location data, Wi-Fi must be enabled on your laptop and at least one wireless network must be visible in your immediate vicinity. Note:Your laptop does not need to be actually connected to any specific wireless network — wifi must simply be enabled and available.
How much battery life does the Monaeo app consume?
Monaeo’s app consumes minimal battery — in fact, its effect is almost unnoticeable.
How much disk space does the app take up?
The app is less than 5MB in size — negligible in most situations.
How do I change my password?
You can update your password by logging into your account and going into Settings. If you forgot your password, just click on the “Forgot Your Password” link to reset it.

REVIEWING AND EDITING DATA

How can I categorize a day as Personal, Work or Transit on my computer?
  1. Go to monaeo.com/calendar. Enter your registered email and Monaeo password, if prompted to do so.
  2. For any day that that you want to mark as ‘Personal’, click the arrow to the left of the day. A menu will drop down. Click ‘Personal.’
A few things to note:
  • On some older browsers, you may need to refresh the page for the change to appear.
  • You cannot mark a day as personal if the day is missing location data. You must first fix the data gap, if it exists, before marking the day as personal. See ‘How can I update data gaps on my computer?’ for instructions.
How can I categorize a day as Personal, Work or Transit using the mobile app?
  1. Open the Monaeo app on your phone.
  2. Click on the data health status at the bottom of the home screen. This will take you to your calendar view. Note for enterprise users: If you need to enter personal days in months before your Monaeo service was activated, please do so at monaeo.com/calendar on your computer.
  3. Any day marked as ‘personal’ will appear in blue. To mark days as ‘personal’, tap on the day, change the purpose to ‘personal’ and tap Done.
  4. In order to save the changes you have made, you must click on the [x] at the top-right of the screen. If you exit the Monaeo app without first clicking the [x], you will lose any changes that you have made. Navigating to a different month will save any changes made to the current month Note: You cannot mark a day as personal if the day is missing location data. You must first fix the data gap, if it exists, before marking a day as personal. See ‘How do I update data gaps using the mobile app?’ for instructions.
What does a missed day mean?
If we can’t automatically confirm your location on a given day (for example, because you had no connection or your device was off), the system creates a “gap” for that day. You will need to update this gap manually. If you have several gaps on your calendar, we recommend updating them on your computer using Monaeo’s website.
What is a “Limit”?
A limit indicates the de minimis tax threshold for a specific jurisdiction. A de minimis tax threshold defines how many days you need to travel to a certain jurisdiction before being liable for taxes.
Can I delete days?

What does “Days Left in the Tax Year” mean?
Days Left in the Tax Year indicate the amount of days left in your pre-defined tax year.
What are Personal, Work and Transit days?
Whether you use the enterprise version of our product or use Monaeo for personal income allocation to various tax jurisdictions, you may want to mark some days as ‘Personal’. For individuals using Monaeo for personal residency issues, personal and work days count towards the total day count. If you wish to manage your ‘Transit’ days, please see the relevant FAQ section. By default, Monaeo assumes that all weekdays that are not U.S. national holidays are ‘Work’ days. Weekends and U.S. national holidays are automatically marked as ‘Personal.’ Monaeo doesn’t mark any days as ‘Transit’ by default.
How can I update data gaps using the mobile app?
  • Open the Monaeo app on your phone.
  • Check the data health status at the bottom of the home screen. It will say if there are any gaps in your location data.Note for enterprise users: If you need to fix location gaps in any months before your Monaeo service was activated, please do so at monaeo.com/calendar on your computer.
  • For any day that has a gap, the system guesses where you might have been and shows it in orange as a question (for example: Were you in NY, USA?). If you agree with the guess, simply click YES and repeat for each day with a gap. If you disagree with the guess, click NO and follow the instructions to enter a new location.
  • When all the gaps for a month have been fixed, the system will automatically take you to any prior months that have gaps. You may navigate your calendar at any time through the controls on the top-left. Navigating to a different month will save any changes made to the current month.
  • In order to save the changes you have made, you must click on the [x] at the top-right of the screen.If you exit the Monaeo app without clicking the [x], you will lose all of the changes you’ve made.
  • How can I update data gaps on my computer?

    2. The month is displayed above the dates. Double-check that you’re in the right month and, if necessary, click on the desired month.
    3. For any day that has a gap, the system guesses where you might have been and shows it in orange as a question (for example: Were you in NY, USA?). If you agree with the guess, simply click YES and repeat for each day with a gap. If you disagree with the guess, click NO and follow the instructions to enter a new location.
    4. Monaeo makes it easy to fix multiple gaps at the same time:
      1. Review our guesses in orange.
      2. Select the checkboxes beside the days where our guesses are correct. You can select all of the days at once by clicking on the checkbox at the top-left of the list.
      3. Click the Confirm button at the top-right of the list to confirm selected days, or click the Edit button to change the locations and labels (work, personal or in transit) of the days.
    A few things to note: Monaeo allows users to only enter one location per day. If you need to enter more than one location for a given day, please contact support@monaeo.com with the date (example: Aug 23, 2014), time interval (example: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and location (city, state, country) for all the locations you wish to enter. Any month that has days with location gaps appears in orange text.
